Lisbon continues to attract attention across borders, whether as a great destination for digital nomads or for those who enjoy quality Chinese food. This time, however, the reason is different and takes us directly to the world of music. So let’s ‘rediscover’ Flur Discos.
The Lisbon venue was recently included in the list of the best record stores in the world by the Financial Times, one of the UK’s most respected publications. Lisbon now ranks alongside cities like London, Paris and New York, thanks to this perfect spot for music lovers.

What did the Financial Times write?
In the article, dated January 2025, you can read the following about Flur Discos:
Lisbon is a great place to find music from all over the Portuguese-speaking world, and its flea markets have many ‘gems’ from Cape Verde, Angola, Brazil and Guinea-Bissau. But the best store is Flur, a house full of records, many of them local and inspired by Portugal’s former colonies.“

A brief look at the Lisbon store
Created in 2001, Flur Discos was in Santa Apolónia for two decades until it moved to Mercado de Arroios in 2021 . There, you can find musical novelties, but also rarities of various genres, records, cassettes, CDs, t-shirts and merchandise.
According to information from the Lisbon City Council, there are around 5,000 items on display, 20% of which are second-hand records. So this is an (almost) obligatory stop for any local or visiting music lover!
