Bairrada, known gastronomically for its crispy suckling pig and sparkling wines, will “invade” Lisbon in March, inviting you to come and taste the delicacies of three of the best restaurants and more than 40 sparkling wines from this region of the country.

Bairrada Suckling Pig and Sparkling Wine Festival: the restaurants

The invitation to the Bairrada Suckling Pig and Sparkling Wine Festival, curated by food critic Edgardo Pacheco, is set for Praça do Beato on March 7, between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m., and promises to bring to the country’s capital the authenticity of one of the most perfect pairings in Portuguese cuisine.
Three renowned establishments and a duel of flavors
There are three restaurants specializing in roast suckling pig that you can try at this event, true heavyweights in the art of preparing these delicious dishes:
- Burguezia do Leitão
- Nova Casa dos Leitões
- Rei dos Leitões

The aim is for you to compare the different styles of preparation, whether you opt for the traditional suckling pig sandwiches (€10); the savory snacks, the famous suckling pig rissoles (€3); and, of course, the full individual portion (150g for €12), accompanied by sliced fries and orange.
If you prefer to take it home, you also have the option of takeaway, 350g for €32.
More than 40 sparkling wines to discover

If suckling pig is king, the famous Bairrada sparkling wine is its faithful companion, and at this event you will be able to taste around 40 certified wines, from the youngest to the most mature, including the emblematic Baga Bairrada category.
Each glass will cost €3, the “ ” ( wine tasting) that will allow you to taste great wines at a symbolic and affordable price, soyou can discover your favorite.
