Consumed for thousands of years, eggs are considered a healthy, complete and digestible food, as well as having a high nutritional value. And Eggs Benedict bring something even more nutritious to this superfood.
On World Egg Day, which is always celebrated on the second Friday in October (October 11 in 2024), we decided to make a list of the best places in Lisbon to eat Eggs Benedict, one of our favorite ways to eat this delicious food.
Eggs Benedict are one of the most traditional morning meals in American cuisine , popularized in the Big Apple, New York City.
Basically, they are poached eggs, bacon or ham and hollandaise sauce, mounted on a slice of bread.
That’s the basics, but what these houses do is much more complex and delicious. Shall we try it?

JAC Brunch & Concept Store
At JAC, just outside Príncipe Real, you’ll find a highly recommended place for a late-morning brunch and, of course, to try their Eggs Benedict, which are incredible.
We’ve already told you that JAC has one of the most incredible and different pancakes we’ ve ever tasted, but the Eggs Benedict are also a real treat.
You’ll find them on the menu for just Benedict (8.5€). They’re one of the cheapest on this list, but they still offer a very refined taste, with the hollandaise sauce and homemade muffins making all the difference.
It also comes with a rich fresh salad and the crispiest bacon on this menu with the best Eggs Benedict in Lisbon.
Address: Rua da Rosa 240 (Bairro Alto/Príncipe Real)
Mila Lisboa
Mila Lisboa first opened in the Santos neighborhood, and already has a second store in Intendente, where it offers some of the tastiest Eggs Benedict we’ve ever tried.
On the menu at Mila de Santos, which is where we went, you’ll find them in two forms: as Avocato Toast Deluxe (11€) and Salmon & Poachies (13€).
The Avocato To ast Deluxe consists of toasted bread topped with avocado, poached eggs topped with tortilla chips and powdered spices, and lettuce salad; and the Salmon & Poachies consist of poached eggs, smoked salmon, avocado, drizzled with dill oil, and toast.
You won’t believe how delicious either one is!
Address: Rua Santos-o-Velho 38 (Santos); Av. Almirante Reis 35A (Intendente)
Pot Tat, in the Governor’s Palace
The Po Tat restaurant at the Palácio do Governador has almost completely revamped its menu (we’ve already tasted some of the new delicacies and we’ll tell you about our experience soon).
What really matters now are the Eggs Benedict we tried there, which were very tasty and made by an expert, right in front of you.
You can choose to have your eggs cooked in any other way, but we strongly suggest you try the eggs Benedict. Nham, nham!
Address: Rua Bartolomeu Dias 117 (Belém)
InterContinental Lisboa
At the InterContinental hotel, you can try the wonderful Eggs Benedict at the brunches (34€) served on Sundays between 12pm and 3pm at the Akla restaurant.
You’ll find them as Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict, and cracking one of these eggs turned out to be a bombastic experience, packed with so much flavor.
To accompany them, traditional toast and thinly sliced avocado slices, to further enhance the refinement of eggs that will stay in your memory forever.
Address: Rua Castilho 149 (Parque Eduardo VII)
Oui Mais Non
It was at Oui Mais Non that we had one of the tastiest Eggs Benedict (12€) on this list, with a Dutch sauce that left us slack-jawed and begging for more.
Oui Mais Non is located inside the Tivoli Fórum, on Avenida da Liberdade, a very pleasant and beautiful place where you really want to be, especially when you’re served eggs of this category.
Although they look very traditional, they taste much better than they look.
We’ve already mentioned the Hollandaise sauce, which is incredible, but we can’t forget the toasted English muffin, the bacon (regular or poultry) or, if you prefer, the salmon. And the gravy? My God, it’s so good!!!
Address: Avenida da Liberdade 180, Loja 5A (inside Tivoli Fórum)
Nicolau Lisboa Café
Nicolau already has a girlfriend, cousin and best friend scattered all over Lisbon, but it was at Nicolau Lisboa Café that we found one of the best Eggs Benedict in town, the Shakshuka, consisting of poached eggs in a spicy tomato sauce, vegetables, feta and coriander, for just €7.80.
Located in downtown Lisbon, Nicolau was one of the great promoters of brunches in the Portuguese capital, which is why it is still a must for those who love this meal, which falls somewhere between breakfast and lunch.
You’ll find a thousand and one tasty things here, but please try the Eggs Benedict, if only to start the meal.
You’ll see that you won’t regret tasting that golden liquid, not only from the hollandaise sauce but also from the egg itself. Nham, nham!!!
Address: Rua de São Nicolau 17 (Baixa)
