We confess that, until these brunches started popping up all over the city, we weren’t big pancake fans.
That all changed when we had the chance to try some of these pancakes, which, as well as being very appetizing, have a characteristic that sets them apart from a simple pancake.
The pancakes on this list are, above all, different! Either because they have seven layers, or because they are cooked in a special way, or simply because they are made up of ingredients that we never thought would go so well together in this sweet delicacy.
Curious? Come along on this journey to Lisbon’s most different pancakes.
These pancakes are out of the ordinary:
1 – Rainbow Pancake Tower
The Rainbow Pancake Tour, which you can eat at the Yard of Greens, may well be the most “showy” and colorful pancake on this list.
And believe me, eating it with two or three friends is an incredible experience, because devouring seven floors of pancakes is not a task for just one person… or can you?
The Rainbow Pancake Tour comes with toppings and some delicious fruit: honey, peanut butter, seasonal fruit (strawberries, bananas and kiwi) and mascarpone cheese. It costs 25€.
On the menu at Yard of Greens you’ll also find a wide selection of other culinary wonders and plenty of cocktails, but the truth is that what brought us to this hidden haven in the middle of the city were these spectacular pancakes.
Address: Rua do Conde Redondo 70
2 – Baby Dutch Pancake
Oui Mais Non, in the Tivoli Forum on Avenida da Liberdade, is one of our favorite places to eat pancakes in Lisbon.
The menu with this delicacy is like no other we’ve tried, with a list of eight pancakes, each one more delicious than the last.
It was on this menu that we found one of the most different pancakes on this list, the Baby Dutch Pancake, which is cooked in the oven on a cast iron, in a process that may take 20 minutes, but will be well worth it.
In this pancake, which is characterized by being completely flattened and with high edges, you can choose a topping to your liking, as well as your favourite sauce. It costs 10€.
Address: Avenida da Liberdade 180, Loja 5A (inside Tivoli Fórum)
3 – Salt & Sour Pancake
The list of pancakes at JAC Brunch, located on Rua da Rosa, between Bairro Alto and Príncipe Real, doesn’t offer much.
Only two pancakes are on the menu: the Velvet from Cuba Pancake; and the one that brings us here, for us the most different of all the pancakes in this experience, the Salt & Sour Pancake.
This was undoubtedly the pancake that impressed us the most, not only because of the fusion of ingredients but also because of the final taste.
Salt & Sour Pancakes are made with ricotta cheese and come with bacon, salted caramel and popcorn. Sounds like strange flavors, doesn’t it? But they work and you’ll love them! It costs 7.5€.
Address: Rua da Rosa 240 (Bairro Alto/Príncipe Real)
