The start of 2026 in Lisbon keeps alive one of the most sophisticated traditions in the European cultural calendar: today, Kings’ Day (January 6), the Central Square of the Colombo Center says goodbye to the usual noise of consumption to transform itself into a prestigious auditorium, welcoming the Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra for its emblematic New Year’s Concert.
At this great event you’ll be able to hear the great classics by Strauss and Tchaikovsky, and best of all, admission is free!
Bruno Borralhinho and more than 50 musicians on stage

Under the experienced direction of conductor Bruno Borralhinho, the New Year’s Concert in Colombo will feature more than 50 musicians on stage, who promise to transport the audience to the sumptuous atmosphere of the halls of Vienna.
The repertoire has been prepared to celebrate optimism, in a line-up that crosses geographical and temporal boundaries, crossing Europe and not limiting itself to the iconic Austrian waltzes:
- Johann Strauss
- The inescapable polkas and waltzes that define the spirit of celebration;
- Tchaikovsky
- The delicacy and drama of Russian romanticism;
- Manuel de Falla
- The warmth and rhythm of Spanish compositions.
