Some of Carris’ most classic carriages will return to parade between Santo Amaro and Algés on September 21, with departures at 10:30 am and 4 pm. It’s the 2024 Carris Classics Parade!
The event, which will take place as part of the celebrations for another anniversary of Carris, which this year celebrates 152 years, will bring to the streets of the capital the company’s most iconic streetcars and buses.
Carris Classics Parade
This will be another opportunity for you to go back to the beginning of the 20th century on board the Open Saloon Tram 283, the Closed Saloon Tram 330, the Tram 444 or the T1.
You’ll also be able to ride on Tram 535, one of the first built by CARRIS workshops, or get to know Tram 802, which was in service in the city of Lisbon when these were still the public transport of choice.
But this year, the big surprise will be the participation of Tram 741, better known as the “crate”, which dates back to 1947.
It will also be a very special opportunity to see some streetcars decorated with various traditional elements such as cork, Arraiolos tapestry and Madeira embroidery.
In addition to transport from the first half of the last century, this year’s Classics Parade will also feature Buses 301, with two floors (in the photo at the top of this article);and Bus 1001, the classic 1975 “orange” bus that circulated the city a lot in the 80s.
