Lisbon is often mentioned in various international rankings and studies, whether for the quality of its gastronomy or even for the conditions offered for practicing sports such as yoga. This time, the Portuguese capital was considered one of the best cities in Europe for drinking beer, making it an impeccable destination to visit.
The study carried out by British travel and cruise operator Riviera Travel not only shows Lisbon in the top 10, but also highlights an ‘unexpected’ leader. This is because we usually associate beer consumption with places like Berlin (Germany). However, first place went to ‘nuestros hermanos’, specifically Madrid.

The study’s methodology
According to the information available, the list considered the most popular European cities outside the UK.
Using reliable sources such as Tripadvisor and Numbeo, various European destinations were evaluated according to three main categories:
- Number of breweries
- Number of pubs and bars
- Average cost of a glass of beer
