The Anjos neighborhood continues to be one of Lisbon’s most characteristic and idiosyncratic, in a perfect balance between tradition, modernity and cultural fusion.
In the streets of this neighborhood, between Arroios and Intendente, there are many stories and places to visit and get to know.
We visited several must-see places in this cosmopolitan area, where Lisbon still belongs to those who live here.
Polpetta – Almondegaria Artesanal
The combination of the words “almondegaria” and “artesanal” is the key word for our stomachs.
This is the proposal of Polpetta, an authentic meatball house in the Anjos neighborhood that also goes all out with the side dishes – the fresh pasta is made in the restaurant, the rustic potatoes are wonderful and the mashed potatoes are creamy.
Open since 2016, Polpetta has already earned a place on the gastronomic podium in this region and the lunch menus are very inviting.

At first glance, it looks like an ordinary tavern, but when you enter you can easily see that pizza is the queen of the house here – and one of the most popular in the area.
The decor doesn’t matter, nor do the recurring queues at the door: those who come here are here to eat good pizza with fluffy, crunchy dough, drink Italian wines and beers and enjoy an infinite choice of ingredients and combinations.
