Although many people already come “equipped” with large bags of food and coolers full of refreshing drinks, it’s still these beach bars in Lisbon that often “save” the day, especially when our supplies run out or start to get warm and we have to head to one of these oases for a cold beer or water… and even some food.
At this time of year, many restaurants and cafes reopen right in front of our favorite beaches, especially on the Costa da Caparica, but also along the beaches of the Linha de Cascais.
And it was precisely these two stretches of beach that we explored in search of the best beach bars in Lisbon.
Come along with us… we’ll buy the first round!
Brother

Founded by three brothers, Irmão is known for offering a magical and welcoming atmosphere, with a commitment to promoting joy and well-being for all guests.
It’s also known for its big music festivals; here’s the calendar with the upcoming events.
Aqui Peixe

It’s located on the second row of Fonte da Telha Beach, right across from the well-known Retiro do Pescador (which we haven’t tried yet), one of the most incredible outdoor dining spots on the Costa da Caparica, perfect for those lovely late afternoons.
The place is huge and has two floors, offering snacks and fish and meat dishes to suit every taste, especially if you’re looking for charcoal-grilled specialties.
Barbas

It’s been around longer than many others along this 15-kilometer stretch of coastline. So it needs no introduction.
It’s one of the best-known restaurants on the coast and was even at risk of closing, but fortunately it remains under the leadership of Barbas do Benfica himself, the affable António Ramos, who continues to prepare that special Caldeirada.
Leblon

We wrapped up our list of beach bar experiences on the Costa da Caparica with the equally famous Leblon, which turned out to be a true seaside dining experience.
Surfers and fans of beaches with waves will choose Leblon for lunch or dinner, and it’s open all day for that mid-afternoon cocktail or cold beer.
Bar dos Gémeos

It was one of our first and favorite beachfront bars, standing out because it closely resembles a beach hut.
It’s right next to Carcavelos Beach and Torre Beach, and they specialize in all kinds of food and drinks, especially that caipirinha in the late afternoon while watching the sunset.
Bar do Guincho

Open since 1987, Bar do Guincho is quite possibly one of the oldest in the region, which also makes it one of the most iconic.
The outdoor terrace facing the ocean and the beach is, in fact, its strong point, not to mention the delicious menu of appetizers and late-afternoon snacks, complemented by the most refreshing drinks.
São Pedro Terrace

Since São Pedro do Estoril Beach is one of our favorites, this outdoor café is a must-visit whenever we’re hungry or thirsty.
Always very crowded, there’s no one who doesn’t want to be right up front, right at the edge of the wall that overlooks this small stretch of sand.
Bar Esplanada Xana

Bar Esplanada Xana is one of our favorite restaurants along the Cascais Coast, not only for its selection of grilled fish dishes— which are always fresh—but also for the view of the beach and the sea.
If you’re looking to grab a snack, have a beer, or enjoy an ice cream, you’ll always be well taken care of here.
Bahia Beach Club

The Bahia Beach Club has plenty of new features and samba on Sundays, plus you can bring your four-legged friend along.
Every summer, lots of people pass through this area of Oeiras, looking for a large, green space with an outdoor seating area, as well as excellent service. Oh, and Caxias Beach is right next door!
