At 120 Rua Direita de Massamá, the Tierra Coyote restaurant offers a culinary journey centered on a clear concept: “border cuisine.”
One of the newest restaurants in Queluz recreates the atmosphere and flavors of the regions bordering the United States and Mexico, featuring a menu where the generous portions of typical American cuisine share the table with classic Mexican recipes.
So, we went there to sample a few (many) of these delicacies, and we’ll tell you all about it right here.
The menu serves as a map that lets customers choose one side or opt for a fusion of both.
On the American side, burgers take center stage. Options like the “Clint Eastwood” (€11.80) or the giant breaded “Chuck Norris” sandwich (€10.80) stand out for their size, proving to be a logistical challenge when it comes to cutting and eating them.
The offerings also include hearty fillings with pulled meat and coleslaw, accompanied by classic chicken wings (€4.90) with barbecue sauce and mustard, served alongside a traditional American beer—a Bud (€3.50), of course!
Flavors of Mexico and the meeting place

On the Mexican side, the focus is on the dishes that have made the country’s cuisine famous, especially tacos, which you can try starting at €4.75.
The menu also includes traditional tacos and generous servings of nachos (Nacho Tierra Style for €8.80), topped with fresh guacamole, melted cheese, red onion, tomato, and jalapeño slices, usually accompanied by the equally traditional Corona beer (€3.50).
“Border cuisine” reimagined

The concept is fully revealed when we sit right on the borderline: the “Coyote Smash Burger” (€9.75), one of the restaurant’s best-selling dishes, exemplifies this union. The recipe uses the technique of pressing the burger patty on the griddle to ensure a crispy exterior, complemented by a generous amount of caramelized onions.
We saved the border-style churros (€4.50) for last , with half topped with chocolate and the other half with dulce de leche. If you’re more of a milkshake fan, you have to try the ones at Tierra Coyote, at €5 per flavor.

Another highlight of Tierra Coyote is the ordering process, which does away with table service: everything is done via your cell phone, with direct access to the restaurant’s menu. When your order is ready, you’ll receive a notification on one of the screens scattered throughout the restaurant. Then, all you have to do is pick up your order and start eating. It’s that simple!
The restaurant’s identity extends into the dining room, where the décor reflects the menu’s duality. The interior is filled with elements from both cultures, including cowboy hats, American and Mexican flags, and rustic wooden signs pointing the way to border cities like El Paso and Ciudad Juárez.
