For the first time, World’s Best Steak Restaurants has revealed its list of the 50 best steak restaurants in Europe, and the only Portuguese representative is from Lisbon— Sala de Corte. Located at Praça D. Luís I in Cais do Sodré, this restaurant ranks precisely 50th.
The ranking was recently announced via the social media channels of World’s Best Steak Restaurants, about half a year after the list of the world’s 101 best steak restaurants was shared—a list that did not include any Portuguese restaurants.
A Brief Look at Sala de Corte

Since its opening in 2015, Sala de Corte has built an identity based on the rigorous selection of cuts—both domestic and international—matured in its own aging chamber and cooked in a Josper charcoal oven.
The menu features cuts such as Vazia, Entrecôte, Lombo, Chateaubriand, Lomo Bajo, T-Bone, and Kobe Rib Eye, and has just added a new item: the Tomahawk, served by the kilo. Wine pairings and a focus on the origin of the ingredients round out the offering from the team led by Chef António Ribeiro.
One of the highlights of the menu is the Kobe Rib Eye, sourced from Japan and certified by the Kobe Beef Promotion, Distribution, and Marketing Association. The restaurant displays, at the counter, a bronze statue awarded by the association to establishments that meet the requirements to serve certified Kobe beef—a distinction granted to only a few restaurants outside of Japan.
