The 2024 Olympic Games need no introduction. After all, it’s not for nothing that this is considered the ‘queen event’ of world sport. Although it started on July 26, the truth is that there’s still a lot to follow until August 11.

Portugal’s presence at the 2024 Olympic Games
According to official website this year Portugal will be represented by a total of 73 athletes competing in 15 sports.
In the Portuguese delegation, some of the biggest hopes for medals lie with names such as:
- Pedro Pichardo, Olympic triple jump champion at Tokyo 2020;
- Fernando Pimenta, bronze medalist in canoeing, K 1- 1000 meters, in Tokyo 2020, among others.

Olympic Games 2024: medals & diplomas
This Thursday, August 1st, Patrícia Sampaio won the first Olympic medal for Portugal in Paris 2024, by taking third place on the podium in the -78 kg category in judo.
However, this is not the only Portuguese athlete who deserves to be highlighted. In fact, the following entries earned honorable diplomas:

- Ricardo Batista, 6th place – Triathlon
