Living in the city has many advantages, such as access to a cultural agenda full of activities. However, it’s always good to enjoy gardens and parks that allow you to ‘switch off’ from the hustle and bustle of the city and breathe in some fresh air. For those who enjoy contact with nature, here’s something new: the inauguration of Bosque do Livramento.
Located in Vale de Caparide, in the municipality of Cascais , and just a few minutes’ drive from Lisbon, the new green lung covers an area of eight hectares, the equivalent of eight soccer pitches. There, you can not only relieve stress, but also explore different trails, always with vegetation as a backdrop.
Bosque [do Livramento] was born from the requalification of a natural space, preserving the existing vegetation as much as possible and promoting natural regeneration. The project is committed to a strong sustainability component , with the creation of recreational and educational conditions,” reads the officialwebsite of Cascais Town Hall.

Main highlights of Bosque do Livramento
In the new green lung of Greater Lisbon, there are some main elements to highlight in the intervention, such as:
- Cleaning and widening the flow of the Ribeira de Caparide
- Construction of a wooden walkway
- Rehabilitation of internal paths
- Creation of picnic areas

In this way, the aim was essentially to give the forest back to the population, making it a place for relaxing, socializing and exercising outdoors.
Alone or with others, Greater Lisbon has just become a little greener; another place where you can enjoy the silence!
