The Heróis do Mar Festival is the latest gastronomic event to “swim” into Lisbon, and will celebrate the great tradition of fish and seafood cooking in Portugal, from October 3 to 6 at Doca da Marinha.
With snacks starting at €5, prepared by renowned chefs from our region and beyond, at the Heróis do Mar Festival you’ll be able to taste the best our sea has to offer, with the best fish and seafood from the coast.
The guest chefs
The Heróis do Mar Festival will feature well-known Portuguese chefs such as José Avillez, Kiko Martins, Vitor Adão, André Cruz, João Sá, Luís Gaspar, Paulo Morais, Gil Fernandes, Marlene Vieira and Justa Nobre, as well as international guests such as Quique Dacosta (Spain), Rafael Costa e Silva (Brazil) and Moreno Cedroni (Italy).
If you decide to sit down at the table at this gastronomic festival with savory flavors , you’ll be able to enjoy dishes prepared by 10 local restaurants, based on fish and seafood, and you can also venture into special banquets prepared by pairs of chefs.
These Heroes of the Sea banquets, which can cost between €150 and €250, are the highlight of the festival and will bring together, for example, three-star Michelin chef Quique Dacosta and two-star chef José Avillez from Belcanto.

Food, but not only food!
In addition to tasting all the dishes, throughout the festival you can also attend live show cooking sessions, cooking classes, talks on fish consumption, a gourmet products market and, of course, lots of musical entertainment.
The musical evenings will be marked by Lusophone concerts, including:
- Lura, Cape Verde, on October 3
- Matias Damásio, Angola, on October 4
- GNR, Portugal , on October 5th
- Mallu Magalhães, Brazil, on October 6th
