In a world where pizza is almost a religion and Naples is the epicenter of a pilgrimage, Lisbon has earned a place in the sun and at the table of the best pizzerias in the world. Forno d’Oro has once again been recognized in the 50 Top Pizza World 2025 ranking, and is the only Portuguese representative.
This distinction came as part of the prestigious gala that took place on September 8th in Naples (Italy). The recognition in the 50 Top Pizza World, in which the Lisbon pizzeria appears in 61st place, joins the ranking that placed it in the top 10 of the best pizzerias in Europe, by the 50 Top Pizza Europe 2025.

“The secret is in the dough”
“The secret is in the dough” is a popular expression in Portugal, which can be perfectly applied to the reality of Forno d’Oro, which specializes in making Neapolitan pizzas.
To ensure the authenticity and excellence of the final product, chef Tanka Sapkota (head of the Lisbon pizzeria) uses slow fermentation dough (36 hours) and baking in a wood-fired oven covered in gold leaf.
In addition, the remarkable temperature of 450º C allows each pizza to be ready quickly, but without losing its Neapolitan essence.

“A must visit” for pizza lovers
The beauty of the wood-fired oven caught the eye of the judges, but that would only be an aesthetic point if it weren’t for the quality and authentic flavors of Forno d’Oro’s Neapolitan pizzas.
The official 50 Top World Pizza 2025 website also highlights the seasonality of some products, as well as the careful combination of food and drink, with craft beers and wines to accompany them.
“A must for lovers of authentic Neapolitan pizza. Ideal for celebrating a special occasion,” reads the website.
