Whether it’s hot or cold, Lisbon calls for whole afternoons on the terrace, chatting and drinking beers, especially craft beers.
Anyone who thinks that beer only rhymes with summer should be mistaken. These craft beers are for drinking all year round.
There’s something for every taste and intensity, with different flavors, aromas and colors and, best of all, they’re made right here in Lisbon.
They may not appeal at first to those less accustomed to these artisanal tastes, but try one or the other, from different brands, and you’ll notice a big difference to those more commercial beers. It has nothing to do with anything!
It was just over five years ago that the first artisan brands began to appear in Lisbon.
Did you know that there are varieties named after typical neighborhoods in Graça? And that there’s an area in the city that’s already called the beer district?
So that you don’t get lost in the city looking for these little beer havens, take note!

Two Crows
Dois Corvos began in 2013, but it wasn’t until 2015 that we were able to drink the brand’s first craft beer.
A few months later, they opened the first tasting bar of its kind in Marvila, a real taproom with food and drink, right next to the factory.
They have already produced almost half a hundred flavors and combinations and have 12 varieties always available at the bar and throughout the country and abroad.
They are a real success story, with many medals to prove it! They feel they have played an important role in creating the craft beer culture and who are we to doubt it?
Address: Rua Capitão Leitão 94 (Marvila)
Muse
The history of the Musa brand began shortly before 2014, but between trips and startups it wasn’ t until 2016 that the first craft beer appeared, the great Mick Lager. Does it remind you of anything? That’s right, the Muse goes hand in hand with music.
This was followed by Born in the IPA, Red Zeppelin and Twist and Stout. They have been in one of the many warehouses in Marvila since 2015 and have been making their own products since 2017.
I’m sure you’ve heard of the Muse parties, haven’t you? Be aware that there’s not just beer there, there’s always good music too.
Address: Rua do Vale Formoso 9 (Marvila)
8th Hill
The 8th Hill, is in the middle of graça neighborhood, more specifically in Vila Berta, since 2014.
We’ve already won the medal for the most original names: urraca Vendaval, Zé Arnaldo and Florinda.
And the seasonal flavors are named after neighborhoods in Graça. You can’t miss the craft beer kiosk in the renovated Largo da Graça with five rotating taps, each with its own flavor.
Address: Rua Damasceno Monteiro 8A (Graça); Avenida Infante D. Henrique 334, Armazém 3 (factory in Cabo Ruivo)
LX Brewery
LX Brewery was the first craft beer brewery to open in Lisbon (previously under the name Sant’Ana), near Estefânia.
The space is not just a factory, but also a store where you can buy ingredients and materials for craft beer production, as well as a bar.
This bar is open every Friday and Saturday from 6pm to 2am. You can eat and drink there, try one or more of the house beers and give your opinion.
The idea is for the bar to serve as a stage for new experiences. It has five fixed flavors, which are always available, and custom-made flavors tailored to certain customers.
Address: Rua do Funchal 5 (Estefânia)
Fermentage Brewpub
Fermentage Brewpub is the new brand by which Lince used to be known. It has also been in Marvila since 2016, with a taproom open every day of the week.
The Fermentage beer brand is now more than just a beer, it’s a lifestyle. And at the bar you’ll find at least 12 types of beer, from Stouts to Pale, IPAs to simple Weiss. There’s something for everyone!
Address: Rua Capitão Leitão 1B (Marvila)
The beer district
As most of these five brands are in the same part of town, people started hearing about the Marvila Beer District, something like the Bairro da Cerveja.
That’s why it’s natural that there are many events linked to this golden liquid, because you can already tell that these people are unstoppable, so here’s to the new artisanal flavors!
