From the best restaurants to travel suggestions, not forgetting the latest news on public transport, at Lisboa Secreta we pay attention to everything that affects life in the capital. So pay attention, if you usually ride Carris, then you’ll know that there’s a 24-hour strike coming.
However, contrary to what was initially planned, Carris workers have decided to change the date from March 11 to March 18.
According to Observador, which quotes a statement from the workers’ union (STRUP/Fectrans), the decision to postpone was due to the fact that the transport company’s management considered the notice to be illegal, as it allegedly did not comply with the 10 working days.
Despite not agreeing with the Carris board’s argument, the truth is that STRUP/Fectrans decided to change the date, and a new 24-hour strike notice has already been delivered for March 18.
The reasons for the Carris strike
According to the source quoted above, these are some of the workers’ demands:
- Real and significant increases in salaries and meal allowances
- Phased transition to the 35-hour week
- Creation of a compensatory allowance for workers in fixed sectors, among others.
