In Lisbon, fall hasn’t quite arrived on the thermometers yet. The IPMA forecasts a high of 27 °C for this Friday, October 9, and temperatures between 27 °C and 28 °C through Monday, with no rain. The average high for October in the city is 22.6 °C, according to the institute’s climatological norms for 1991–2020.
The day-by-day forecast
Here are the IPMA forecast figures for Lisbon:
Friday, the 9th: 16 °C and 27 °C, clear skies
Saturday, the 10th: 15 °C and 28 °C, partly cloudy
Sunday, the 11th: 15 °C and 27 °C, with high clouds
Monday, the 12th: 17 °C and 27 °C, with high clouds
The chance of rain is 0% every day. On Saturday, runners in the Lisbon Marathon will race with a forecast high of 28 °C.

And next week?
The unseasonably warm weather is expected to continue. According to Meteored, which relies on data from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), the week of October 12–19 is expected to see average temperatures 1 °C to 3 °C above normal across most of the continent, with below-normal rainfall, especially in the North and Center.
Still, not all afternoons this week are expected to be equally warm, and Meteored notes that, at this point, the figures may still change.
And these figures are far from extreme: according to the IPMA, the highest temperature recorded in October at the Lisbon/Gago Coutinho station between 1991 and 2020 was 34.1 °C, on October 6, 2017.
