I’m proud to share my new exhibition “Alexandre Farto aka Vhils Selected Editions 2008-2024”, at MUDE – Museu do Design, in Lisbon. This exhibition brings together a selection of editions that I have developed since the beginning of my career as an artist. For me, editions have always been a space for experimentation, a place to test materials, processes, repetition and variations, and it means a lot to see so many of them presented together for the first time.”
This is how the artist Alexandre Farto, better known in the art world as Vhils, presents his latest exhibition in Lisbon; which can be seen for free, but we’ll get to that in a moment.
The power of detail in a 16-year journey through the streets of the world

From the walls of Lisbon to limited editions, Alexandre Farto’s new exhibition reveals the more intimate and experimental side of his work, through the raw energy that emanates from the peeling walls of this world-renowned Portuguese artist.
Only this time, the stage is not a ruined urban façade, but the renovated MUDE – Museu do Design, in Lisbon.
The exhibition “Selected Editions 2008-2024”, which opens on Wednesday (December 17, 2025), invites us to look beyond the jackhammer and discover the precision of artistic editing.
Although the general public associates Vhils with the monumental scale of his murals, this exhibition focuses on editing as the heart of his practice. It’s not just about reproduction, but a testing ground where technology meets unlikely materials.
During the opening, the Mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas, highlighted precisely this aspect
This intersection between art and people, with people at the center, and between materials, technology and innovation, is absolutely unique in Alexandre’s work.”
What you’ll find on your visit

The exhibition, curated by Pedro Ferreira, acts as a visual retrospective that spans almost two decades of the artist’s career (2008-2024) .
You’ll be able to follow the works on display:
- The technical evolution
- How the artist uses serigraphy, engraving and new media to replicate the texture of the city;
- Collaborations
- The artistic dialog with other creators, pushing the boundaries of design and visual communication;
- Globality
- Reflections of realities captured in cities such as Shanghai, Rio de Janeiro, Paris and London.
What we have here is a journey of the last 16 years, almost 17, made in various places around the world, which reflect different realities, but with a common part: Humanity.”
