Legend has it that Friar Nicolau de Oliveira, when naming Lisbon the City of Seven Hills, purposely forgot the Eighth – Graça! And if it weren’t for these brewers putting it on the world’s lips by opening the Oitava Colina taproom, we’d still be toasting the usual seven with industrial beer.
But Oitava Colina (craft beer), with its multiple and charismatic personalities, could only succeed in this generation that is looking for real and genuine flavors.
Now you can toast to the coolest hill, with a view to match. This taproom has tentaps that promise a variety of beers as cold as the heart of the wretched Friar.

The queens of the house
The last time we went there, on a hot day and with the sun almost hiding on the horizon (it was beautiful), these were the 10 beers you could try:
- Florinda (Lisbon Lagger)
- Urraca Vendaval (IPA)
- Joe da Silva (American Pale Ale)
- Zé Arnaldo (Robust Porter)
- Vila Maria (Blonde Ale)
- Vila Prazeres (Raspberry Sour)
- Django Django (IPA)
- Rebel Aged (Dry Cider)
- Meia de Leite (PAstry Brown Ale)
- Witor (Witbeer)
The Urraca vendaval, one of the best-sellers of this house, and the Joe da Silva, also very much appreciated by the Lisboa Secreta entourage, who accepted the kind invitation of Oitava Colina, remain in our memory.

More on the snack menu
Yes, don’t venture into one of these craft beer tasting tables without ordering something to eat. In our case, we tried the Guacamole with Nachos (€6.5); the Cheese Bread (€6.5); and the Smoked Anchovies with Toast (€7).
There are other things to try, but these were the house recommendations, so we had to go with them.

Do you need any more “excuses” to choose this spot to admire your next sunset?
