If you thought our guide to summer festivals was already complete, it’s just been updated with a new must-see stop, especially if you’re a fan of reggae music.
The Jardins do Marquês in Oeiras will host the first (hopefully of many) edition of the Reggae Sun Fest on the weekend of August 8 and 9, entirely dedicated to Jamaican sounds and alternative urban cultures.
A festival of music, food, crafts, and activities for kids
More than “just another music festival,” this two-day event was created under the motto “Music, Lifestyle, and Family,” giving it a more family-friendly and laid-back vibe than most festivals you’re familiar with.
That’s why, throughout the Jardins do Marquês de Pombal grounds, you’ll find various areas that blend live music with world cuisine, craft markets, and, above all, recreational spaces and exclusive, safe activities for children.

To ensure that the inaugural edition doesn’t go unnoticed on the international scene, the promoter has put together a stellar lineup capable of attracting both roots purists and fans of more contemporary approaches:
August 8 (Saturday)
On the first day,you’ll take a journey across different continents, starting with the Brazilian band Ponto de Equilíbrio and one of reggae’s biggest names, Patrice, along with the energetic fusion of the Italian group Mellow Mood, the socially conscious messages of Cape Verdean artist Mo Kalamity, and the local representation of Atlantic Sound.

August 9 (Sunday)
The second day raises the bar by bringing true legends and acclaimed producers to Portugal, with the iconic Inner Circle taking the stage on the same day as the renowned Sicilian producer and artist Alborosie. To showcase the strength of the new generation of modern reggae, the lineup is rounded out by Jamaican artist Jesse Royal and the unique talent of Marcus Gad, originally from New Caledonia.
