The smash burger market in Lisbon remains red-hot, but the Patty Smash Burgers locations have managed to bring a charm all their own to the table .
Inspired by the aesthetic and atmosphere of iconic American diners, the brand has been making rapid strides: it opened its first restaurant in March 2025, with a prime view of Estádio da Luz, then opened another location in Picoas and Odivelas, and has already promised us that it won’t stop there, with more openings planned in the capital.
This time, we visited the Odivelas location to discover a new feature that will appeal to many families: the introduction of a space entirely dedicated to children, allowing for a much more relaxed meal.
But let’s get down to business: the food

We put them to the test with two of the restaurant’s classics. We ordered the Smash Burger Patty and the chicken version, the Chicken, both for €10.90.
In the beef version, the Maillard reaction—the process that ensures the patty pressed onto the griddle has thin, crispy edges bursting with flavor— is masterfully executed, a fact proven by the burger’s taste, which turned out to be quite good, even exceeding our highest expectations.
However, to keep this review completely honest, there was one drawback: the bun. As is the case at most of the burger joints serving smash burgers that we’ve visited (with rare exceptions on the market), the bun doesn’t measure up to the high quality and flavor of the meat, making it the weakest link in the experience.

To go with it, we chose the regular fries (€3) and the sweet potato fries (€3.50). We missed out on the famous Dirty Fries (€6), which can be topped with grated Parmesan or truffle, and they’re already on the list for our next visit.
Where Patty’s restaurants really stand out is in their condiments. The selection of homemade sauces is delicious and makes all the difference. We tried the herb, jalapeño, chipotle, and truffle mayonnaises, and any one of them is an excellent accompaniment to the fries.

If you want to fully experience the American diner vibe, there’s a curious habit that several customers have already adopted at Patty: dipping their french fries directly into their milkshake. It might seem strange, but the contrast between the salty and the sweet works surprisingly well.
Speaking of sweets, the dessert options aredefinitely worth saving some room for. The milkshakes (€5.90 for the classic chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry flavors) get a unique twist with the popcorn version (€6.90).
If you’re more of a pastry fan, the Dark Chocolate Delícia and White Chocolate Delícia cakes (€4.90 each) are the perfect way to end your meal.
Patty Smash Burgers thus establishes itself as a solid choice, with competitive prices and a family-friendly atmosphere that invites you to come back again and again.
If the bread receives the same attention as the grilling technique, it has everything it takes to secure a spot at the top of our podium.
