In an attempt to reduce the noise in some of the most popular nightlife arteries, the Misericórdia Parish Council has launched a campaign involving the placement of silence signs, which “ask” for silence and respect for local residents.
Lisbon continues to receive a large number of tourists, that every day “invade” the streets of our capital, and at night there have been more and more complaints from residents about the noise in areas with more bars and restaurants.
The excessive noise at night has been unbearable, which is why the Misericórdia Parish Council was the first to choose to install these silence signs in some of the busiest streets.
Where are the silence signs?
For several days now, signs have been installed to warn against night-time noise in the neighborhoods of the Bica, Cais do Sodré and, of course, Bairro Alto, recognized areas with a high concentration of bars and party atmospheres.
These silence signs are written in Portuguese and English and contain the following message:
Silence please. Respect the residents.”
Of course, this initiative was applauded by the residents who live in or near these areas, who hope for an improved quality of life, even if this depends largely on the people who frequent these areas.
