Hidden behind the Tivoli Avenida Liberdade is a subtropical garden with a pool that, until this summer, was a well-kept secret from hotel guests. For the first time, the Pool Bar is opening its doors to anyone who wants to escape the hustle and bustle of the avenue without leaving downtown Lisbon.
An oasis that was hidden from guests
Until now, the pool and Pool Bar were exclusive to guests staying at the Tivoli Avenida Liberdade. This year, the hotel decided to open this lush, serene retreat to the entire city. The space is located at the back of the hotel, away from the hustle and bustle of the avenue, in a garden with plenty of shade and surrounding greenery that occupies part of the former gardens of the bourgeois mansions that once stood in this area of Lisbon.
What you’ll find there
The culinary offerings are curated by Chef Miguel Silva, featuring fresh, casual dishes such as ceviches, tartares, salads, poke bowls, and sandwiches. The Tivoli Salad and the ceviche are already considered classics on the menu. Among the desserts, created by pastry chef Mónica Azevedo, the coconut trompe-l’oeil stands out, featuring macerated pineapple, mint, mousse, and coconut biscuit. On the beverage side, there are cocktails, sangrias, sparkling wines, fresh juices, smoothies, and mocktails, among which the Pool Sours stand out—made with rum or vodka combined with one of eight fruits of your choice, available in fizz or frozen versions.
Late afternoons with live music
On Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., the Pool Bar comes alive with live DJ sets by the pool—the perfect setting to linger into the afternoon before dinner.
