And the site is right next to the Alvalade Market, which will receive a new parking lot with capacity for 233 spaces.
Work on the new parking spaces began on January 2nd, after the construction site was set up in the last month of 2024.
The new infrastructure
The project, promoted by Lisbon City Council (CML) and managed by the company Telpark, aims to modernize the infrastructure and improve the parking offer in the area, meeting the needs of residents, traders and visitors.
The new parking lot, which will be built next to the Alvalade Market, will have the following characteristics:
- capacity for 233 spaces, more than double the current 110 spaces;
- a three-storey structure with a roof;
- places for charging electric vehicles powered by solar panels.
The work is expected to take up to 8 months and is expected to be operational in July or August of this year.
Until then, all measures are being taken to minimize the negative impacts on the day-to-day life of the local community, namely by reorganizing parking on Avenida da Igreja, creating temporary spaces.
