If you’ve had enough of the traditional Christmas decorations, get ready for something completely different: the Alegro Sintra Shopping Center is inaugurating “Chocovila Encantada”, a monumental and unprecedented exhibition in the country that will recreate some of the most spectacular national monuments and attractions, such as the Pena Palace, the Moorish Castle and even the Praia das Maçãs streetcar, all with three tons of chocolate.
The “sweetest” Christmas in Sintra’s history
In a true work of artistic engineering, 3,000 kg of chocolate were used to build a 180 square meter village, in an exhibition that is also an olfactory experience that recreates Sintra‘s icons in impressive detail, all sculpted in pure cocoa.
The work is by Alvaro Romero Martin, an international artist with a portfolio at Disneyland Paris, who spent months sculpting this nine-meter-long structure.
In addition to the visual display, the space also has the “Choco Splash”, which is a themed ball pool, and several places to taste Christmas sweets.
Still in the area of gastronomy, on November 29 you can attend a showcooking session with “A Pitada do Pai”, as well as other workshops for adults.
Address: Central Square (Floor 0) of the Alegro Sintra Shopping Center
Opening hours: from November 22, 2025 to January 6, 2026, every day from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Tickets: free (practical activities (workshops and ball pool) require prior registration on the website)
