The 5th edition of the MEO KALORAMA festival, returning August 28–30 to Parque da Bela Vista in Lisbon, is already taking shape. After all, more than 15 artists have recently been confirmed.
And what a lineup! One of the biggest highlights is the iconic Ms. Lauryn Hill, a true living legend of hip hop after releasing “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” in 1998—the first album of this genre to win the Grammy for Album of the Year and, for many, one of the best of all time. Also on the lineup at MEO KALORAMA are Wyclef Jean (of the Fugees) and his sons YG Marley and Zion.
Among this recent wave of artists, there is another music diva worthy of mention: Grace Jones. Considered an indispensable figure in pop culture, the Jamaican artist reinvented the realms of soul, disco, and new wave. American rapper Vince Staples and the duo Black Star also promise to delight hip-hop fans.
Also confirmed are some rising stars such as the Spanish artist Judeline, known for challenging the boundaries of national music in the neighboring country, and the ethereal experimentalism of the Swedish artist Anna Von Hausswolff. Joining these names are Angine de Poitrine; Folk Bitch Trio with their debut album “Now Would Be a Good Time”; and electro-rock legends Peaches, among others.
