The countdown to next year has begun, but the truth is that 2026 is taking shape at various levels and not just with the New Year’s Eve parties. On a cultural level, for example, there are many new events, from concerts to festivals, not to mention literary events.
For the most avid readers in and around Lisbon, here’s some good news: the 96th edition of the Lisbon Book Fair (FIL) returns from May 27 to June 14 in Parque Eduardo VII.

The dates were recently announced in a joint publication by FIL and the Portuguese Publishers and Booksellers Association (APEL), which organizes the event. In addition, registration for exhibitors will open at the beginning of January, on a date yet to be revealed.
A literary ‘mega-event
The Lisbon Book Fair is a true literary ‘mega-event’. This year alone, it had 350 pavilions, more than 960 publishing brands and more than 3,000 cultural events, including several authors.
