A new entertainment venue called Level Arena is set to open in Alverca do Ribatejo, just a few minutes by train from Lisbon. With 2,300 m² spread acrossfive interactive attractions, the venue promises electric go-karts with augmented reality, laser challenges, interactive walls and floors, and even a live game show .
Five attractions, one location
The big new attraction is BattleKart, which combines electric go-karts with tracks projected onto the floor, where participants collect virtual bonuses and compete in real time, without needing a racing suit or helmet. Access is limited to those who are at least 1.45 meters tall. The concept was born in Belgium in 2012, created by Sébastien Millecam, and opened its first track in Mouscron in 2015; today it has more than 70 locations in 13 countries and over five million users.
In addition to BattleKart, the venue features four more experiences: Bomb Squad, where teams navigate laser courses against the clock; Gamer Now, which turns any group into a live game show with 19 challenges where everyone plays at the same time; Level Wall, a large-scale interactive wall featuring official Angry Birds games; and Pixel Games, a digital floor that reacts to movement in real time, with over 100 games available, including licensed titles from Atari.
More than just games
Between attractions, there’s a Sports Bar with darts, foosball, and other challenges so you can keep the competition going with a drink in hand. The space was also designed for larger groups and events—birthdays, team-building activities, and brand activations—with a capacity for over a thousand people and more than 70 multimedia projectors that allow the environment to be adapted to different occasions.
The project, by the Portuguese group Boost Experiences Group, is the result of the conversion of a vacant industrial space and is expected to create more than 20 direct jobs.
Where it is and how to get there
Level Arena will be located at Rua da Cofersan, No. 1, in Alverca do Ribatejo, in the municipality of Vila Franca de Xira. Although it’s outside the city of Lisbon, the trip is quick: by train, from Oriente Station, the journey to Alverca takes only about 11 minutes, with departures every 20 minutes. By car, the distance is about 25 km, which takes 20 to 25 minutes on the A1.
When it opens
There is still no exact opening date, and the official Level Arena website currently only states that it will open “soon, ” with media reports pointing to late summer. Anyone who wants to secure priority access on opening day can already sign up for free on the official website, with no obligation.
