Praia dos Galapinhos, or just Galapinhos, for those of you who are already regulars at this corner of white sands and crystal-clear waters, may well be considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal, having already been acclaimed by many international publications as one of the best in Europe, such as The Guardian and The Times, which highlights the entire Serra da Arrábida.
If you’ve never been lucky enough to set foot on this haven of stunning natural beauty, you don’t know what you’re missing: Praia dos Galapinhos is nestled between the lush Serra da Arrábida and the expansive Atlantic Ocean, on the Setúbal peninsula.

It’s beautiful to die for
There aren’t enough words to describe the beauty of Praia dos Galapinhos; it’s just breathtaking, even for the most well-traveled tourists from other latitudes.
The setting creates a greenish natural amphitheatre and its clear waters make anyone’s jaw drop. It also has a tranquillity that is only interrupted during the summer months.
Even so, during this season it isn’t usually as popular as its neighbors Albarquel or Figueirinha, since the accesses are more circuitous (on foot along paths with some inclination) and parking spaces are very limited.
Perhaps that’s why it’s still a treasure to be discovered by many adventurous vacationers, who, whenever they get there, can’t wait to dive into its clear and very calm, yet icy, waters.

Also in the case of Praia dos Galapinhos, pictures are worth much more than simple and insufficient words to describe this unique spot.
Those who visit say their hearts are full and they promise to return for new experiences and renewed summer stories, in a truly authentic place by the sea.
And right next door is another almost pristine beach, Coelhos, which we’ll talk about another time.
