Lisbon has attracted the attention of the film world with major events such as the Tribeca Film Festival, which has already been confirmed for this year. However, the capital’s cultural agenda isn’t just made up of major initiatives, so there’s a new event to look out for: the Future World Film Festival.
This is the first time that this festival will be held in Lisbon, and the aim is to give visibility to (and reward) young talent. To take part, all you have to do is produce a micro-short film of up to two minutes, or a short film of up to 20 minutes.
If you’re interested in taking part, then you should know that the application period runs until March 17th. After that, there will be a new phase on April 17 where the names of the works selected to be part of the Future World Film program will be revealed.
How to take part?
You don’t need an expensive or professional camera to take part. In fact, a simple cell phone and a lot of imagination can be enough to create and submit a creative project online, via the Filmfreeway platform.
It should be noted that the 1st edition of the Future World Film Festival will award prizes in various categories, including:
-
Best Short Film
-
Best Documentary Short Film
-
Best Micro-Film
Note that the winning projects will be screened on June 17 at the emblematic Cinema São Jorge.
Luxury jury
The quality of the Future World Film Festival jury gives the event even more relevance, as it includes stars such as:
-
Daniela Ruah
-
Beatriz Batarda
-
Joaquim de Almeida
-
Albano Jerónimo
-
Michelle MacLaren, producer of series such as “Game of Thrones” and “Breaking Bad”, among others.
