Another week has passed, and the same scenario is repeating itself from north to south in Portugal: fuel prices continue to rise. According to figures reported by various media outlets, filling up will cost about 6.5 cents more for diesel and 5 cents more for gasoline.
The National Association of Fuel Retailers, cited in a SIC Notícias article, forecasts that the average price of diesel will be around 2.22 euros. The price of gasoline, meanwhile, is expected to rise to approximately 2.11 euros per liter.
However, it is important to keep in mind that, since this is a free market, these prices may vary between different gas stations and locations.
From the international crisis to the gas pumps

Fuel prices have been rising frequently, particularly affected by international instability, notably geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and the context of the war in Ukraine.
To try to mitigate this situation, the government has approved a bill to extend until December 31, 2026, the temporary regime that allows for a reduction in the Tax on Petroleum and Energy Products (ISP) rates applicable to gasoline and diesel in the commercial sectors. The measure has yet to be reviewed by Parliament.
Given this price hike, it’s important to know where to find gas stations with the lowest fuel prices. To do so, simply visit the “Online Fuel Prices”website, run by the Directorate-General for Energy and Geology (DGEG), and filter your search by district, municipality, and fuel type.
