During the festive season, many Portuguese travel to spend Christmas and New Year’s Eve with their families. In this context, and to cope with the increase in demand, FlixBus has decided to reinforce its connections, starting this week and until January.
In a statement, the transport company said that the cities of Lisbon and Porto will now have a total of 166 journeys, with 83 in each direction. Journeys to Coimbra have also been increased.
According to the press release, there is also an increase in timetables and frequencies in the cities of Guarda, Viseu, Aveiro and Figueira da Foz. Further south, the Algarve was not left out either.
More FlixBus for airports and Spain
With the aim of making it easier for those traveling abroad to get around, the transport company has also increased its connections to national airports. However, the news doesn’t stop there.
For those wishing to travel to Vigo, one of the hottest Christmas destinations, there are up to 14 direct daily road connections to the Galician city from Lisbon, Fátima, Aveiro, Porto, Braga and Coimbra.
New domestic destinations in 2025
FlixBus has been growing in Portugal in recent years and 2025 will be no different. This is because the opening of more destinations on the domestic network has already been announced.
FlixBus currently operates in 90 cities in Portugal and in 2025 we will be adding 11 new destinations, all in the interior of the country. In fact, of the total number of destinations on our network in 2025, around half will be inland,” says Pablo Pastega, FlixBus Vice-President for Western Europe and General Manager in Portugal.
