The MEO KALORAMA festival organizers and Lisbon City Council met today at Cais das Colunas to announce the latest news about the third edition of what is the last big summer festival in Portugal and Europe, including the announcement of a new stage, the latest confirmations for the 2024 line-up and discounts on public transport.
This meeting in Cais das Colunas, one of the city’s most typical locations, definitively marks the launch of what will be the third time that this festival has passed through the spectacular natural amphitheater of Parque da Bela Vista, august 29th, 30th and 31st.
The event, which was attended by Ângelo Pereira, representing Lisbon City Council , João Epifânio, executive director of naming sponsor MEO, Pauline Foessel, curator of the Underdogs platform, musician Sam The Kid, representing the Chelas é o Sítio Association, and Diogo Marques, director of Last Tour Portugal, served to present the major novelties of the third edition of the event MEO KALORAMA in Lisbon.
The main novelties of the 3rd edition
The first novelty that stands out is the new Lisbon Stage, which joins the three existing stages and will be a tribute to the city itself, with artists from six nationalities, including four from Portugal.
The last artists on this year’s line -up were also confirmed, completing what was already a line-up packed with the best national and international music.
The curatorships of Underdogs in the visual arts and Sam The Kid of Chelas é o Sítio stand out in the artistic and musical fields, curating projects in both areas.
But one of the great novelties was the offer of a discount for users of the Navegante Pass, as a way of encouraging all festival-goers to use public transport during the three days of the festival MEO KALORAMA.
The stage, the poster, the art and the discounts
Lisbon Stage
The new stage will be called Palco Lisboa (Lisbon Stage ) and will be an authentic tribute to the city, from which we can already highlight the theme of the third edition of the MEO KALORAMA, with special attention to the two columns of the well-known Cais das Colunas, which is next to Praça do Comércio.
The new stage will feature artists from six different nationalities, four of whom will be Portuguese, including Loyle Carner, English Teacher, Glockenwise, Jalen Ngonda, Nation of Language, Landzs de Chelas, Mercury Award (Ezra Collective) and two queerartists: Yves Tumor and Filipe Catto.
The latest confirmations
The MEO KALORAMA, which already included big names such as Massive Attack, Sam Smith, LCD Soundsystem, Jungle and Burna Boy, is now welcoming a new batch of artists.
Most of these new confirmations take place on the Panorama Stage, which is dedicated to Dance Music and will feature LGBTQ+ artists such as Cheriii, DJ Lambo, DJ Python, Kampire, Yizhao, Kiddy Smile, Ketiov, CC:Disco, Cormac, Merve, Noia, Zsongo Club Showcase, Fabiana Palladino, Monobloc and Catana.
Underdogs and Chelas is the Place
As far as the visual arts are concerned, Underdogs is once again joining the festival to present some of the best artwork under the theme of interconnection, created by both national and international artists, of which we are still waiting for two highly anticipated confirmations.
As far as the neighborhoods around the festival grounds are concerned, the highlight is the project led by musician and composer Sam the Kid, who, through the Chelas é o Sítio Association, will once again be present at the new edition for the third year, with artists such as Muleca XIII, Vilson, Landzs and Br!sa, who will bring a diversity of sounds to the festival.
Discounts on public transport
As a way of encouraging festival-goers to use public transport even more MEO KALORAMA, a new partnership has been created with Passe Navegante, which will allow everyone to enjoy a discount on the purchase of day tickets and on the three-day pass.
MEO KALORAMA on Tour
Also noteworthy is a new concept for the promotion of this festival, through MEO KALORAMA on Tour, where you can attend various mini events up to the date of the event, the first of which took place today with a concert and live music at Cais das Colunas by Unsafe Space Garden, who performed before the press conference.
This is followed by the Sunset Party at El Corte Inglês, the Slow Down initiative, the little surprise musical moments “on the move” and the Sunset Beach Party, the last big event before the long-awaited opening of the doors of the MEO KALORAMA festival.
