The wait is over and downtown Lisbon was lit up with the official start of the Christmas season in Chiado, more precisely with the facade of Armazéns do Chiado, which kicked off another magical moment on November 8th.
The event that marked the start of the countdown to Christmas in the heart of the capital enchanted everyone with the arrival of Santa Claus, an LED mapping show and lots of music. Let’s find out what happened!
Rua do Carmo transformed into “Christmas Street”
The highlight of the evening was, as usual, the visual spectacle on the façade of Armazéns do Chiado, which once again used LED technology to project onto its walls a series of dynamic animations inspired by the iconic classics of this Christmas season.
These visual effects were accompanied by a soundtrack that stirred the memories of several generations with a rendition of one of the best-known movie themes at this time of year, “Home Alone”, performed on this day by the Lisbon Film Orchestra Choir.
At the end of the day, the highlight was the traditional arrival of Santa Claus at this Lisbon shopping mall , with a triumphal entry into the interior, a moment that the youngest loved.
If you didn’t have the chance to attend the opening, you can see the light show on the façade of the shopping center, every day from 6pm to 9.30pm, until January 6th.
As for Santa Claus, he will be at the Warehouses again on November 29 and 30 and December 1, 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, 20 and 21 and, as usual, all the children who visit him during the Christmas season will receive a copy of the 19th edition of Gui’s Book, entitled Gui and the Journey into Space.
