Bairro Alto is once again hosting one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in Lisbon, at the Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara, between December 1 and 26.
At this market, which as always is free to enter, you’ll find handicrafts, seasonal flavors and a giant tree.
26 days of pure Christmas magic
The Christmas party in Bairro Alto starts on the first day of December and ends 26 days later, promising lots of daily entertainment in an iconic location, a true meeting point between tradition and the Christmas spirit, with the advantage of free admission.
The scenery alone is one of the biggest attractions of this Christmas market, with the lights of São Jorge Castle and Baixa as a backdrop.
But this market adds several layers of interest: you can visit different spaces dedicated to Portuguese handicrafts, in what is an excellent opportunity to find authentic gifts and support national creators; the seasonal gastronomy is another attraction, with a wide variety of seasonal sweets and snacks, as well as the indispensable typical drinks that help warm up the cold days and nights of December.
An 11-meter tree and Santa’s House
In this year’s edition of the Bairro Alto Christmas Market, as a way of creating the magical atmosphere of the season, the belvedere will be dominated by an 11-meter-high Christmas tree, through a structure that promises to illuminate the space and serve as the ideal backdrop for family photos and memories.
With youngsters in mind, the event also recreates the fantasy of the season with Santa’s House, a space totally dedicated to celebrating the charm of this time of year.
