If you’re looking for cultural plans for the weekend, here’s a suggestion: the Arroios Independent Book Festival (FLIFA). From September 12 to 14 (Friday to Sunday), more than a hundred independent publishers and bookshops will be there to welcome Lisbon’s most avid readers and visitors.
The Arroios Market, the epicenter of this literary ‘pilgrimage’, was chosen to host the 4th edition of the initiative, which has been held since 2022. There, various brands from the Portuguese publishing world are represented, such as Stolen Books, Antítese, Planeta Tangerina, It’s a Book, Teatro Praga and many others.

Much more than buying books
For those who love reading, it’s important to keep up to date with literary news and buy the latest titles and, of course, the unforgettable classics that brighten up any personal library. However, the program is not limited to book sales.
Promoted by the Arroios Parish Council (JFA), the cultural initiative also includes talks, presentations of works, workshops, staged readings, launches and even a concert scheduled for September 12, at 8pm, by the Inês Gomes Trio.
