Year after year, Lisbon continues to shine and rack up international tourism awards. The “City of Seven Hills” took center stage at the finals of the 2026 World Travel Awards Europe, held on Friday, October 17, in Montenegro, where it won in two different categories: Europe’s Leading City Destination and Europe’s Leading Cruise Destination.
Portugal in the Spotlight

The European gala of the World Travel Awards honored not only Lisbon but Portugal as well. In fact, our country won more than 30 awards, including the titles of “Europe’s Leading Destination 2026,” “Europe’s Leading Island Destination” (Madeira), “Europe’s Leading Beach Destination” (Algarve), and “Europe’s Leading Cultural City Destination” (Porto).
The complete list of winners can be found on the official website. It should also be noted that the European gala precedes the grand world final, scheduled for December 12 in Tanzania.
