Imagine Dragons are about to land in Lisbon for a concert (on June 26) that promises to fill the hearts of all fans of the American band… but which will certainly make daily life difficult for many of those who use the streets and roads closest to the Estádio da Luz to go about their daily business.
Imagine Dragons are just another of the great bands to visit our country this year, this time for a solo concert at the Benfica soccer team’s stadium.
Given the huge community of fans of this band that exists in our country, but who will also come from other countries, especially Spain, that area of Lisbon will have several constraints, with streets and roads cut off.
These measures will take effect the day before the concert, on June 25, and will continue until the early hours of Friday, June 27:
- Avenida Machado Santos (stadium side): traffic restricted between 8am on Wednesday and midnight on Thursday;
- Avenida Eusébio da Silva Ferreira (access to Parque -3 and Avenida do Colégio Militar): heavy traffic restrictions from 4pm on Thursday, with the possibility of a complete traffic cut-off before the end of the concert until 1am on Friday;
- Rua João de Freitas Branco (near park 8 – Rotunda das Oliveiras): heavy traffic restrictions from 4pm on Thursday, with the possibility of a full traffic cut until 1am on Friday;
- Praça Cosme Damião (EMEL parking lot): traffic restrictions from 4pm on Thursday, with the possibility of traffic being cut off until 2am on Friday;
- Avenida do Colégio Militar (between Rua Galileu Galilei and Avenida Condes de Carnide): traffic will be completely cut off before the end of the concert until the crowd has completely cleared.
Both traffic and parking may be severely restricted on all the roads adjoining the streets indicated above, with a greater focus from 4pm on Thursday, and the PSP recommends the use of public transport, although this may also be restricted, given the high number of passengers.
