The employees of Carris, the bus and coach company, have been lisbon streetcars, begin a series of partial strikes today that could last until next Friday.
The partial stoppage begins this Monday, June 17, and will last until Friday, June 21, with these strikes always taking place at a different time.
The first round of this strike at Carris took place this morning, between 04:30 and 08:30, and these will be the next shifts to be affected:
- tuesday, between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m
- wednesday, between 2:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m
- thursday, between 6:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m
- friday, between 22:30 and 04:30
As required by law, the court has decreed minimum services on June 17, 18, 19 and 20.
Among the main demands that led to this strike at Carris are a 100 euro pay rise and a request for a 35-hour working week, as well as an increase in the meal allowance to 15 euros/day.
Manuel Leal, head of Fectrans, explained to SIC that
the workers are unhappy with the proposal made by the company’s board of directors regarding salary updates. The company is proposing an increase of around 60 euros, but the employees are demanding at least 100 euros.”
