João Simão da Silva, popularly known as Marco Paulo, died this Thursday, October 24, at the age of 79. The singer had been battling two cancers, one in the lung and the other in the liver (the latter in critical condition), and was unable to resist the disease.
According to information provided by SIC Notícias, last month the artist was informed that the chemotherapy was not working, so the treatment would be suspended. Today, Portugal is mourning the death of one of its greatest figures. Meanwhile, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa has already spoken out:
The President of the Republic received with regret the news of the death of the singer Marco Paulo, who was present in Portuguese musical life for decades, and presents his condolences to his family, friends and admirers,” reads a note from the Presidency of the Republic.
