Mercadona, the famous Spanish supermarket chain, continues to invest heavily in its expansion in Portugal. This time, it has announced the opening of a new store in Frielas, the brand’s second in the municipality of Loures, in Greater Lisbon.
According to Mercadona’s official website, the opening is scheduled for October 16, starting at 9am, and the store is located at Rua do Bonjardim, number 2.
According to the same source, the new supermarket will create 90 jobs, with open-ended contracts from day one.
The store will have an area of 1900 square meters with wide aisles and an underground parking lot, following the usual model of the chain’s other stores.

With this store, Mercadona will have eight supermarkets in the Lisbon district. However, at a national level, its presence is even greater, with more than 60 stores from north to south.
The chain, known for several products that go viral, took its first steps in the Portuguese market in 2019, with the opening of its store in Canidelo (Vila Nova de Gaia). Since then, it has continued to grow and promises not to stop there.
