From now on, if you want to use Carris public transport, you can pay for your journeys using the MB Way app on board the buses or streetcars, simply by pointing your phone’s camera at the QR codes that appear on the validators.
This new payment method makes payment easier and aims to completely eliminate the use of coins or physical cards.
How to start using
This payment method is available on all the vehicles of this Lisbon transport company, from buses to streetcars and elevators, as long as they already have a ticket validator.
To start using it you must:
- have the MB Way app installed on your phone (iOS or Android)
- when you get to the Carris transport, open the app and press the “Pay with MB Way” button
- then point your phone’s camera at the QR code on the validator
- confirms and is ok
- you can also link your TIN to this purchase by following the instructions (see video)

This partnership between Carris and MB Way is another way of providing all passengers with greater convenience when using public transport, especially those who already use this type of digital payment method.
