Marquês de Pombal Metro Station, one of the most important and busiest in the capital, will undergo extensive four-month renovations on the Blue and Yellow lines.
If you use Marquês de Pombal as a transfer point or even as your final destination,fear not, as traffic will not be affected, despite all the access constraints that a project of this magnitude may have.
The works begin today, January 26
Over the next four months, the Marquês de Pombal metro station will undergo maintenance work to increase comfort for all its passengers.
The good news, as we have already mentioned, is that this station will remain fully operational throughout the construction period, with no planned service interruptions or access closures, allowing you to continue to enjoy all its services, both on the Blue and Yellow lines.
It’s not just cosmetic work
If you regularly use this station, you have probably noticed some aesthetic problems, with peeling walls in need of a fresh coat of paint.
However, according to information obtained from Metropolitano de Lisboa, the works will not be purely cosmetic; the aim is also to carry out structural repairs and a thorough clean, focused on solving chronic maintenance problems, such as:
- Treatment of leaks
- One of the highest priorities to ensure the comfort and integrity of the structure;
- Renovation of surfaces
- Painting walls and ceilings, as well as replacing damaged elements;
- Technical cleaning
- Complete sanitization of coatings and unblocking of the drainage system.
In order to speed up completion of the work and minimize visual and logistical impacts, the work will be carried out 24 hours a day on weekdays.
