The return from summer break and preparations for a new school year are, time and again, among the periods of greatest financial strain for Portuguese families.
And it is precisely during this period of household budget adjustments that Lidl Portugal is providing direct relief to consumers’ wallets through an immediate price cut on 88 everyday items.
What will actually change on your receipt?

This campaign focuses on food, personal care, beauty, and household cleaning products , offering discounts ranging from 5% to 31%. In practical terms, this translates to an average price drop of 16% on these items, valid on store shelves from August 31 through the end of September.
Among the highlights and biggest price drops in this campaign are:
- Oat flakes
- Rice
- Butter and frozen fish
- Essential goods
- Cleaning and personal care products
More than 1,000 products will be cheaper starting in 2025

According to Lidl’s data, since March 2025, more than 1,000 products have already seen their retail prices drop, and the choice of these dates reflects the economic reality highlighted by entities such as the Bank of Portugal and the National Institute of Statistics (INE), which indicate that, historically, the period between the end of summer and mid-October leads to severe spikes in spending.
Last year, at this same time, the use of consumer credit skyrocketed by nearly 15%, underscoring the difficulty families face in covering the extra expenses of this season.
