Europe’s largest exhibition of LEGO models returns to the Cordoaria Nacional in Belém on July 25. Spanning an area of about 2,000 square meters, the exhibition features more than 120 models, built with approximately 15 million pieces, and will remain in Lisbon until January 10, 2027—more than enough time for a family visit during summer vacation.
The three new additions to this edition
Three brand-new supermodels are making their debut this year. The “King of the Seas, ” inspired by a luxurious transatlantic liner, is the most complex and detailed model in the exhibition: it is 7 meters long, has more than 11,000 windows, and was built with 700,000 pieces over six months of work by seven builders. Joining it is the “Great Red Dragon, ” a medieval dragon figure nearly four meters tall with a wingspan of five meters, also built from about 700,000 pieces. Rounding out the trio is a massive spinosaur, five meters long and three meters tall, assembled from 900,000 pieces.
The Boeing 747 that no one can ignore
The highlight of the exhibition remains the replica of the Boeing 747, the world’s largest airplane, recreated on a 1:7 scale using over one million LEGO pieces. The structure is 11 meters long, 10 meters wide, and 3 meters tall, and visitors can peek inside the plane, where there are historical scenes featuring former U.S. presidents.
From Star Wars to Gotham City
Throughout the exhibition, there are recreations spanning various worlds: architecture, cinema, comics, science, history, and sports. Highlights include replicas of iconic monuments such as the Eiffel Tower and Big Ben— the latter built with over 77,000 pieces—an area dedicated to Star Wars featuring spaceships and battle scenes, and settings inspired by The Lord of the Rings and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. There is also a recreation of Gotham City, covering 20 square meters and made up of half a million pieces, as well as life-size figures of characters such as Spider-Man, the Hulk, and Harry Potter, and historical figures such as Bach, Chopin, and Copernicus.
Fun for all ages
The visit ends at the Fun Zone, a free-build area divided into three spaces: the Little Ones Station, designed for the littlest hands; Besties World, set in a pink universe; and the free-build zone, open to all ages. There’s also an educational area about the exhibits on display and, separately, a 3D Trick Gallery featuring optical illusions for photos—the latter requires an additional ticket.
