After a ten-year hiatus, “Festa na Praça” is back in Lisbon. On September 12, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Praça do Comércio will be transformed into a large, free gathering space, featuring concerts, crafts, and entertainment for the whole family—including our four-legged friends.
The final stop on a long tour
“A Festa na Praça” is a traveling initiative by Continente that has been touring the country from north to south since July 17, with stops in Elvas, Ponte de Lima, Alcobaça, Fundão, Tomar, Braga, and Oliveira de Azeméis. Lisbon is the final city on the tour, and Praça do Comércio is hosting the event in partnership with the Lisbon City Council and EGEAC – Lisboa Cultura.
Kiko is Hot, NAPA, and Mariza on the lineup
The musical program kicks off at 4 p.m. with a DJ set by Kiko Is Hot, a leading figure in Portuguese digital culture. At 5:30 p.m., NAPA takes the stage; the group performed the song “Deslocado” at Eurovision and has already surpassed 150 million streams. The closing act, at 8:00 p.m., will feature fado singer Mariza, who has a career spanning more than 25 years and has won numerous international awards. Throughout the day, the bandstand in the square will also host the “Viva o Samba” circle .
Food, crafts, and entertainment for the whole family
On the food front, there are four street food stands: Chakall’s grill, sandwiches from Cozinha Continente, burgers and kebabs, and a dessert area with ice cream and mini pancakes. The square also features a market with local artisans, performances by local artists, a stage dedicated to dancing, and a pet-friendly area with fresh water and snacks for dogs. For the little ones, there’s face painting and other fun activities.
