The strikes at CP are back, this time until November 3, with the biggest impact expected to be on October 31, Halloween and the day before the All Saints holiday, where the strike is expected to last a full 24 hours.
Called by the Itinerant Commercial Railway Union (SFRCI), the main reason for this strike at CP is due to the failure to comply with the agreement signed last summer, which provided for a transport and availability allowance premium in the workers’ basic salary.
Impact on your daily life
As with all strikes, the impact on the daily lives of those who need this type of transport to get to work is enormous, since various service interruptions are planned, such as:
- Partial strike on October 24, 25, 28, 29 and 30, which will affect the Lisbon Urban (Sintra, Azambuja and Sado lines), Regional/InterRegional services.
- A total strike on October 31, where all CP services will be interrupted, including Alfa Pendular, Intercidades, Regional/InterRegional, Urbanos and Internacional Celta.
To minimize this impact, minimum services have been defined, although we know from experience that these are always insufficient, and even for the day of the total strike (October 31) some urban services are guaranteed.
As is always the case, CP has already informed us that passengers with tickets for the days affected by the strike will be able to request a full refund or exchange their tickets at no extra cost for another available date or time in the same category and class.
