Mugasa’s famous suckling pig will make the journey from Bairrada to Lisbon for an exclusive four-day culinary event .
If you don’t usually travel, this may very well be your best chance to taste one of the country’s most coveted Bairrada-style suckling pigs.
Mugasa heads to the Avillez neighborhood

From April 9 to 12, the capital welcomes one of the greatest icons of Portuguese cuisine, with the renowned Mugasa restaurant—famous for serving what many consider to be“the best suckling pig in Portugal”— setting up shop in Lisbon in an exclusive pop-up format. The event will take place at Páteo do Bairro do Avillez and will be open for lunch and dinner.
If you enjoy a good roast suckling pig, then the name of this restaurant should be familiar to you; located in Sangalhos (Bairrada), chef Ricardo Nogueira will leave his kitchen to serve, for four days, his signature dish, which has delighted thousands of diners across the country.
The menu is all about tradition and authenticity

The menu was designed to faithfully reflect Mugasa’s identity and its strong connection to tradition.
The star of the show will be the Roast Suckling Pig, of course, served with French fries, lettuce, and orange. But the main course options can be tailored to your appetite and the size of your group:
- Individual Serving of Roast Suckling Pig: €37.50
- A Quarter of Roast Suckling Pig: €75
- Half Roast Suckling Pig: €150
- Whole Roasted Suckling Pig: €300
- Suckling Pig Cabidela Starter (for 1 or 2 people): €10/€15
- Aletria Dessert: €8
It’s worth noting that if you’re coming as a group and prefer alternatives to suckling pig, the regular menu at Páteo restaurant will remain available throughout the pop-up.
One final note justto point out that, since this is a short-term event featuring a highly sought-after dish, it’s normal for tables to sell out quickly.
