After the excesses of the festive season, one of the resolutions of many Portuguese is probably to bet on and/or return to more ‘fit’ habits. After all, physical exercise and well-being are essential for a better quality of life.
In this context, Holidu, a booking portal for vacation homes, drew up a ranking focusing on the ‘fittest’ cities in Portugal. And what was the result? Lisbon leads the top 10. However, let’s take a look at the other mentions and also understand the methodology used.
Top 10 fittest cities
According to the information shared with Lisboa Secreta, Holidu concluded that these are the most ‘fit’ cities, in an evaluation from zero to ten:
- Lisbon – 10
- Vila Nova de Gaia – 9.05
- Porto – 8.67
- Braga – 8,36
- Funchal – 7,81
- Matosinhos – 7,10
- Guimarães – 5,25
- Cascais – 4,54
- Viseu – 3,73
- Setúbal – 3.45
What methodology was used?
To draw up this ranking, Holidu considered all Portuguese cities, using Google Maps data from January 2025 to formulate the final list.
The following parameters were taken into account:
- Gyms: the number shown on Google Maps
- Fast food restaurants: the number of facilities with the category ‘fast food’ and fast food restaurants.
